Goodreads summary

Juliette hasn’t touched anyone in exactly 264 days.

The last time she did, it was an accident, but The Reestablishment locked her up for murder. No one knows why Juliette’s touch is fatal. As long as she doesn’t hurt anyone else, no one really cares. The world is too busy crumbling to pieces to pay attention to a 17-year-old girl. Diseases are destroying the population, food is hard to find, birds don’t fly anymore, and the clouds are the wrong color.

The Reestablishment said their way was the only way to fix things, so they threw Juliette in a cell. Now so many people are dead that the survivors are whispering war– and The Reestablishment has changed its mind. Maybe Juliette is more than a tortured soul stuffed into a poisonous body. Maybe she’s exactly what they need right now.

Juliette has to make a choice: Be a weapon. Or be a warrior

My Thoughts

I know this book review isn't going to do this book justice, because I don't think I will be able to put in words how much I loved this book and how just incredible it is. There are some authors that write a books that you just read and you don't feel anything. There are other author's who's book you can connect with and love. And finally, there are the authors who paint the words on to that book and you look and read those words and you start falling so hard for that book, where that book makes you feel emotions that you didn't think a book was capable of making you feel. Tahereh Mafi's book definately goes in the last one.

This book was fantastic!!! There wasn't one word that I didn't like. The characters where brilliant and the plot was extraordinary.

Juliette was a fantastic character that I admire so much. Throughout the whole book she refused to give in, to give up, even though her life would have been easier if she did, but she refused to quit fighting, because she didn't want to be a person who lets other people decide her life. She refused to be controlled, she refused to be turned into a monster, because she wanted to be better. She wanted to decide and be the person she wanted to be. That is why she is such a remarkable character.

The plot in this book was wonderful. Some people might say it was slow, and action wise it was a bit slow in the middle, but there was always something going on in Juliette's head. She always had some kind of conflict in her head. So, that made up for the kind of slow action in the middle.

All in all, this is an extraordinary book that was written by an outstanding author who, even though this is her first published book, sure as heck knows what she's is doing. The characters blew me away they where great and unforgettable, and a plot that left me out of breath and in love with this book.
