Top Ten Books I Thought I'd Like MORE/LESS Than I Did
This was a pretty easy question this week. The first five are ones I thought I would like and ended up being dissopointed with them. And the last five are ones I thought I wouldn't like and ended up loving.
1. The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
2. Touch of Death by Kelley Hashway.
This was one of my most books for 2013 and it fell flat in everyway.
3. The Nightmare Affair
This was another one that I thought was going to be amazing, but it wasn't. It was still good, but not really good.
4. The Assassin's curse
Ditto to The Nightmare Affair
5. Nevermore Kelly Creagh
This was a DNF for me, I thought I was going to love it, because its based on one of Edger Allen Poe's poem. And I love all of his works. It just wasn't good for me.
This was the second book I read from her and before this one I didn't have much faith in her, because its about alians. I thought that no one could make a good book about alains, I was so wrong. I love this book and this whole series!
7. Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder
I picked this one up randomly from the shelf and read it, I loved it!!
8. Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles.
I don't really like contemporaries, there just not my thing. So, I didn't think I would like iit, but I ended up loving it!
9. The Girl of Fire and Thorns by Rae Carson
I started this one and stopped, because it wasn't very fast. I started it again and didn't have any hope that it would be good, but again it was such a good book!!!
10. The Scarlet Pimpernel by Emmuska Orczy
I read this for school and all of previous books I read for school where awful So, I thought this one would also be awful. I was pleasantly surprised that it was good.
Happy reading.
I agree about The Nightmare Affair, it was good but not fantastic. I have been meaning to check out The Assassin's Curse. As for Obsidian, I really want to read it!

I hope you like the Assassin's Curse more then me.
DeleteI didn't enjoy The Great Gatsby at all. LOVED Poison Study!
ReplyDeleteMe either really. Yay!! Another Poison Study fan. *high Five*
DeleteIsn't it sad that it's often our most anticipated books that fall flat. I'm still to read Girl of Fire & Thorns and Obsidian. Can't wait to get to them.
ReplyDeleteThats why I try not to have excpections when going into a book, but thats hard to do.
DeleteGreat list! I felt the same way about Obsidian. I had put it off for a while because I wasn't sure I would like it and ended up loving it!
ReplyDeleteObsidian is just so awesome!
DeleteAnother Poison Study fan! I also found it randomly and looooved it!
ReplyDeleteIts such a great book!
DeleteThe Nightmare Affair is on my wish list, bit disappointed to see you didn't love it. Obsidian is one I really must check out :-)
ReplyDeleteBookishTrish @ Between the Lines
Hope you like Nightmare Affair then I did.
DeleteHoping I enjoy The Great Gatsby, glad to hear you did though you didn't love it. And I'm especially glad to hear you liked the Girl of Fire and Thorns because I just bought it and was hoping for a good one.
ReplyDeleteStart girl Of Fire and Thorns as soon as you can. Its so great!
DeleteI couldn't get through Nevermore, either. Which was a shame because the premise is awesome. I just checked out Girl of Fire. I'm excited to read it.
ReplyDeleteHere's my TTT
Nevermore was just bad. It felt way to long.
DeleteAw I liked Assassin's Curse but I read it early and before there was a lot of hype. :/ I LOVED Poison Study, I still have to read Fire Study though! And now when I pick up The Nightmare Affair I won't have such high expectations so thanks for that! Great list!

I also haven't read Fire Study, every time I get it from the library I don't read it. I don't know whether it's, because I don't want the series to end or what.
DeleteI am so glad to see other Girl of Fire and Thorns love! If this was not literally put into my hands I don't think I would have ever picked it up. I just picked up Obsidian and I am really excited to start it!
ReplyDeleteI love fantasy so it was my king of book, but I did take a while to pick it up.
DeleteIt's been a long time since I read THE GREAT GATSBY, but I remember having the same reaction: What's the big deal? Glad I'm not the only one who doesn't swoon over it!
ReplyDeleteI'm also glad I'm not the only one who didn't like it :D
DeleteHmm, I liked Nevermore! It's been a while since I read it, though. I remember being a little bit confused with the story.
ReplyDeleteLove love love Obsidian! :)
The only reason I couldn't finish it,is because it felt so long.
DeleteLOVELOVE Poison Study!! I was also very disappointed with The Nightmare Affair, I expected it to be amazing and it just...wasn't.
ReplyDeleteGreat list :)
I know!! Poison study is just so awesome!! I had the exact some reaction with the Nightmare Affair.
DeleteI also had disappointed expectations for The Assassin's Curse. I'm hoping the second book will fix the plot issues I had!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT
I'm also hoping that the second one will be better :D
DeleteI haven't heard great things about Nevermore which is disappointing because it's such a great premise!
ReplyDeleteIt was a great premises, just not executed good.
DeleteOh, that's too bad about the Assassin's Curse, I've heard such great things! Although it might be the same for me since we have the same opinion of The Nightmare Affair. Thanks for the follow, I followed back :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you like the Assassin Curse better then I did :D.
DeleteNevermore was a DNF for me too. I couldn't get past the first 100 pages, who cares about popularity? I wanted Poe!
ReplyDeleteI also have to read Poison Study really soon.
Thanks for stopping by my TTT Kimberly! (:
I wanted much more Poe!! Read Poison Study!! Its great!
DeleteI LOVED Girl of Fire and Thorns! It did start off a little slow, but then I couldn't put it down! And I really liked Obsidian too. I actually ended up really liking Touch of Death. I'm glad to hear about Nightmare Affair though. I'll push it down the list a bit, lol.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT!
Jessica@Lovin' Los Libros
I had the same reading experience with Girl of Fire and Thorns.
DeleteI am not the biggest fan of The Great Gatsby so I understand your frustration there. I love that you enjoyed Obsidian and The Poison Study...two of my favs! Thanks for visiting!
ReplyDeleteWe most have the same taste in books.
DeleteThanks for stopping by my TTT. I think Obsidian is the only one on your list that I've read, and I really enjoyed it.
