Still On My Mind (2)

What "Still On My Mind" is about, is I am going to tell you a book I read a while ago, but I still think about constantly. I will also explain why it is still on my mind.
Still On My Mind happens every Thursday, and was originated by YA-Aholic. If you wish to join in, please check the requirements here

The book that is still on my mind is Wondrous Strange by Lesley Livingston.

     Goodreads summary

17 year-old Kelley Winslow doesn’t believe in Faeries. Not unless they’re the kind that you find in a theatre, spouting Shakespeare—the kind that Kelley so desperately wishes she could be: onstage, under lights, with a pair of sparkly wings strapped to her shoulders. But as the understudy in a two-bit, hopelessly off-off-Broadway production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, wishing is probably the closest she’s going to get to becoming a Faerie Queen. At least, that’s what she thinks... In this fun, urban fantasy, Kelley's off-stage life suddenly becomes as complicated as one of Shakespeare’s plot twists when a nighttime trip to Central Park holds more than meets the mortal eye.

~ Why this is still on my mind~

love books that put a spin on fairy mytholgy. I just love fairy books, I don't know why, I just do. And this is the book that made me fall in love with fairy books.
This book is still on my mind, because Lesley Livingston puts a twist to the basic fairy lore. And I love when authors do that. Not just to fairy lore, but to any consept. Anyway, when I started this book I thought it would be a silly fairy book, but when I started reading it captivated me from page one.  I fell in love the characters, the writing, and the story. I basicly loved everything about this book.  And it left me wanting more. More of the characters, more of the story, and especially more of the fairy world. This book does not show you much of the fairy world. However, what it did show me left me curious about the fairy world, and their laws and traditions.

Can't Wait Wednesday (1)

I am starting a new thing called " Can't Wait Wednesday". Basically what "Can't Wait Wednesday" is about, is that I showcase a book that I can't wait to be released.

Title: Cursed
Author: Jennifer L Armentrout
Released date: 9/18/2012

Goodreads  summary
Dying sucks--and high school senior Ember McWilliams knows firsthand. After a fatal car accident, her gifted little sister brought her back. Now anything Ember touches dies. And that, well, really blows.

Ember operates on a no-touch policy with all living things--including boys. When Hayden Cromwell shows up, quoting Oscar Wilde and claiming her curse is a gift, she thinks he’s a crazed cutie. But when he tells her he can help control it, she’s more than interested. There’s just one catch: Ember has to trust Hayden's adopted father, a man she's sure has sinister reasons for collecting children whose abilities even weird her out. However, she’s willing to do anything to hold her sister's hand again. And hell, she'd also like to be able to kiss Hayden. Who wouldn't?

But when Ember learns the accident that turned her into a freak may not've been an accident at all, she’s not sure who to trust. Someone wanted her dead, and the closer she gets to the truth, the closer she is to losing not only her heart, but her life. For real this time.

Jennifer L Armentrout is such a good writer. I love all of her books, and I can not wait for this to come out. It looks so good!!!!!

The Iron Daughter by Julie Kagawa

Grade: 4 Butterflies
Name: The Iron Daughter ( The Iron Fey #2)
Author: Julie Kagawa
Released: 8/1/2010
Series: The Iron Fey
Page Amount: 368
Publisher: Harlequin
                                                    "SPOILER ALERT"
Do not read any farther if you have not read the first book The Iron King

                                               Goodreads summery

Half Summer faery princess, half human, Meghan has never fit in anywhere. Deserted by the Winter prince she thought loved her, she is prisoner to the Winter faery queen. As war looms between Summer and Winter, Meghan knows that the real danger comes from the Iron fey—ironbound faeries that only she and her absent prince have seen. But no one believes her.
Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's stuck in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. But even as she grows a backbone of iron, Meghan can't help but hear the whispers of longing in her all-too-human heart.

 My thoughts

Story: I read so many bad review for this book, I was hesitant to read this book at first. However, I wanted to finish this series, so I got the book. It took about a hundred pages to really get into this book, but after that the book picked  right up. The book was fast paced and had a lot of twists I did not see coming. I also loved the love triangle in the book. The rising tension with Puck and the heartbreak over Ash, was really great to read.

Characters: The characters were very solid in this book. However, I got annoyed with Meghan, when she didn't understand that Ash had to hide his feelings. He even told her why before they got to the palace. But at the same time it shows the great character development that Julie Kagawa put in this book. At the beginning of the book Meghan was this naive character, but at the end of the book she was this fierce character that showed no fear.

Writing: The writing was great in this book. Nothing felt forced in the book. Also when you read this book you can see how much thought went into making the nevernever, and that is what makes a great book; authors really taking a moment to think about how the world is going to be. The nevernever was a really great world to read about.

Ending: The ending was really good. I love the sacrifices every one made and the loyalty that Meghan and Ash have for each other. It was heart melting.

                                                   **********************
Overall: This was an enjoyable book, and a good sequel to The Iron King, although I think it will be overshadowed with the next books. I did not give this book an A+ because it was a bit slow at first and I did not like the characters for awhile in the book, but those are really my only complaints.
                                                 **********************

This book got...

4 Butterflies
Beloved, I really liked this book.

That's my review, I hope you liked it.
Happy reading.

Still On My Mind (1)

Today I am doing a new thing called "Still On My Mind". What "Still On My Mind" is about, is I am going to tell you a book I read a while ago, but I still think about constantly. I will also explain why it is still on my mind.

Still On My Mind happens every Thursday, and was originated by YA-Aholic. If you wish to join in, please check the requirements Here
The book that is still on my mind is Poison Study by Marie V Snyder.

                                                       Goodreads summary:

About to be executed for murder, Yelena is offered an extraordinary reprieve. She'll eat the best meals, have rooms in the palace—and risk assassination by anyone trying to kill the Commander of Ixia.

And so Yelena chooses to become a food taster. But the chief of security, leaving nothing to chance, deliberately feeds her Butterfly's Dust—and only by appearing for her daily antidote will she delay an agonizing death from the poison.

As Yelena tries to escape her new dilemma, disasters keep mounting. Rebels plot to seize Ixia and Yelena develops magical powers she can't control. Her life is threatened again and choices must be made. But this time the outcomes aren't so clear.

Why this is still on my mind

It has such a unique world, a interesting story, and wonderful writing. Once you read it you will never forget it, and you will want more. The author has put a lot of thought in to this book and you can see that when you read it. Also the way Mrs. Snyder explians the magic is pure magic in itself.

Grade: 4 Butterflies
Name: Dark Frost (Mythos Academy #3)
Released: 5\29\2012
Series: Mythos Academy
Page Amount: 352
Publisher: Kensington Publishing Corporation

WARNING: THIS REVIEW MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS

LAST CHANCE, DO NOT READ ANY FARTHER IF YOU DID NOT READ THE FIRST TWO BOOKS.

                                                    Goodreads summary:
I’ve seen so many freaky things since I started attending Mythos Academy last fall. I know I’m supposed to be a fearless warrior, but most of the time, I feel like I’m just waiting for the next Bad, Bad Thing to happen. Like someone trying to kill me—again.

Everyone at Mythos Academy knows me as Gwen Frost, the Gypsy girl who uses her psychometry magic to find lost objects—and who just may be dating Logan Quinn, the hottest guy in school. But I’m also the girl the Reapers of Chaos want dead in the worst way. The Reapers are the baddest of the bad, the people who murdered my mom. So why do they have it in for me?

It turns out my mom hid a powerful artifact called the Helheim Dagger before she died. Now, the Reapers will do anything to get it back. They think I know where the dagger is hidden, but this is one thing I can’t use my magic to find. All I do know is that the Reapers are coming for me—and I’m in for the fight of my life.

                                                               MY THOUGHTS

Story: This book had a bit of everything in it. It had romance, action, and suspense. The story was fast paced throughout most of the book, but in the middle it slowed down a little bit. However, it picked right back up after a couple chapters. The plot was really great, but in some parts a little predictable. For example, I knew who the villain was throughout most of the book, however there is still some twist that you do not see coming.

Characters: The characters were very enjoyable in this book. There was a good amount of character development. Although, again, some of the character's actions where predictable at times; not all the time, but some times.

Writing: The writing was awesome in this book! There was never a time I was confused in this book. And that is hard to do in a book based around Greek Mythology. The author was amazing. I love Jennifer Esteps writing style. She writes such great books.

Ending: The ending was pretty good. The book didn't end with a massive cliffhanger. However, the ending still left you waiting anxiously for the next book.

**************

Overall: This book has an awesome plot, great characters, and flawless writing. It is a really great book that left me wanting more.

Cover Reveal: Crimson frost + Soul Screamers: Vol 2

Hello my Dearest Readers, today I saw the covers for Soul Screamers: vol 2, by Rachel Vincent and Crimson Frost( Mythos Academy #4), by Jennifer Estep, and the first thought I had was these are awesome. So, I decided I would do a cover reveal for you.
The first cover reveal is Soul Screamers: vol 2 by Rachel Vincent.

Isn't it just beautiful? It is almost as pretty as the first one. I just love all the Soul Screamers covers and this one is one of the best. I am not going to tell you what the books in it are about because it has major spoilers in it. However, I will tell you that it has the third book ( My Soul To Keep), Book 3.5 ( Reaper), and book 4 ( My Soul To Steal) in the Soul Screamers series. I always loved this series. Rachel Vincent is an awesome author.
This book comes out November 13th 2012 by Harlequin Teen

The next cover reveal is Crimson Frost by Jennifer Estep.

Crimson Frost is the fourth book in the Mythos Academy Series. I love the Mythos Academy Series, it is a great series with an awesome plot with really great characters and flawless writing. What first got me interested in this series was the covers. They are absolutely great covers, but this one I think is not as great as the first three. It is still pretty, its just the first three are better. Again I will not tell you what this book is about because it would ruin the first three books in the series. and I hate spoilers.

This book comes out January 1st 2013 by Kensington

I hope you like the covers

My thoughts

Story:  This story is pure GOLD. It was a fast paced book, but not too fast paced where you start getting confused. I loved the story line. It brings a new twist to the idea. I also loved the romance between Dante and Abby. It was the best part of the book, but not the only aspect of the book. This story is more than a romance. It has the perfect balance of action, mystery, and romance.

Characters: I loved every single character, even Zo. He is the perfect villain. If such a thing excites.
There is a decent amount of character development.

Writing: The writing in this book was really great for a first time author. I mean it's not the best writing, but it's still really great. I love how she makes the love between Abby and Dante feel so real. because I was afraid that the love between Abby and Dante would feel fake.

Ending: The ending was a really great ending for a first book in a series. It leaves with such a cliffhanger that you are on the edge of your seat just waiting for the next book.

**********************

Overall: It was a really Great book. I loved it. It is now one of my favorite books.
