Summary
Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex.
Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for.
Even if it means making war against the gods.
It's no secret that I am team Aiden all the way. I've been team Aiden since the first scene he was in. He is such a dynamic and amazing character. So, when this first came out I was so freaking exited to read it!! A novella from Aiden's POV, hell yeah! And I went in this with excitement, but also warily. I've read novella's from the love interest POV before and 2 out of 3 times it will be such a disappointment. So, I was really afraid that this would be too, but I had nothing to fear because it was amazing!! This was everything I think a novella should be.
Let me elaborate a little bit. I think novellas that are set in the middle of two books should have at least some of these characteristics; if it's from another POV than the original story is, than it should be in he/her mind. I think it should have their thoughts on things and memories of past scenes, I think it should feel like you are in their mind, instead of the new POV being a gimmick that the author used to make fans buy this novella. Which I have encountered before. And this novella did this very well. It felt like Aiden's story. It felt like you where actually with him when all this crap started happening and you felt his pain and his emotions. Which was so freaking amazing to read, because I was in Aiden's head *fangirls immensely*!! We got to see what he thought of people and things, it was just really great!!
The second thing that's on my criteria for novellas is when its in the middle of books (we are now calling them "between novellas") is setting up the plot for this next one. I want between novellas to give us insight of what will happen in the next book and foreshadow a bit. I want it to continue on from the last one just enough to give us insights on the next book and maybe even show a new side, a new dynamic on a few things. However, At the same time I want it to have a plot of it's own I don't just want it all to be a set up. This book nailed this! The plot had everything I just stated! It had it's own plot moving forward while at the same time giving us insights for the next book. And it was just really amazing to read!! After reading this I was so freaking anxious for Apollyon to come out, because this plot was just so good and addicting!!
This book was everything I expected and wanted!! It didn't just meat my expectations it blew them out of the water. I just loved this!!! I loved being in Aiden's head and seeing how he thinks and seeing why he did certain things. I just loved it!! I just loved how it actually felt like we were seeing through Aiden's eyes. I loved how it had it's own plot, but still setting up for the next one. I just thought it was an amazing novella!!! And I can't wait for Sentinel is released!!
