My thoughts

I was writing a post that had my fav authors in it and Marai V. Snyder was one of them and it hit me that I never reviewed any of her books. I was shocked, because I love this book so much and I talk about it constantly, even though I first read in 2011. So, here is my review on one of my all time favorite books.

I LOVE this book so much, it blew me away with its captivating plot, characters that felt so real, and writing writing that tied everything together. Everything in this book is brilliant, though start to finish there is not one bad thing in it. I found this book by accident. I was searching the shelves of the library for a book and they didn't have it, but right by where it was supposed to be there was Poison Study. I picked it up, because I thought that maybe it had assassins in it since there is poison in the name. When I read the summary it looked really good, so I checked it out and read it, and I was so glad I did. This book blew me away the first time I read it and blows me away every time I re-read it.

This plot captivated me from the first page. I mean the book starts out with the main character in a dungeon and is about to be hanged, who doesn't think that sounds interesting? The plot is also so fast, but not so fast that it makes your head spin with all of the things the author is throwing at you.

The world building was incredible. It was so vivid and it really shows how great an author Maria V. Snyder is. The way she writes there is no excess use of words when she describes something, so it doesn't take pages for something to be described. That is one of the reasons I love her writing style, because I hate it in books where there is over usage of words. I just get so annoyed, its like "Okay wrap it up, what are you trying to say here author?".

I LOVED the characters in this book. They felt so realistic and real, not like I thought they where real, just that you could see someone being like them. Yelena was an amazing main character. I loved how she never bent to any one's will, and when she fell she got right back up. She refused to be beaten down and it really made me admire her.

All the other characters where great, even the side characters. I loved the power twins (shout out to people who read this), I loved Velak, and I even loved the Commander, even if I didn't agree with everything he did. It is not often in books where I love both the main characters and the side characters, so props to Maria V. Snyder for making a book where I did.

Overall, this book blew me to Mars and back. The plot takes hold of you from the beginning and never lets go, even after you finish it. The characters where outstanding and I was able to connect with every last one of them, which made them even more amazing. The writing was some of the best I ever read and the author is in my top 5 Favorite authors.

I'm saying to you to pick this book up, from the library or if you have it on your shelves un-read, read it now, right now, because you will have a book that will blow you away.
