Jackson Godspeed is the hottest young Angel in a city filled with them.
He's days away from becoming a full Guardian, and people around the world are already competing for the chance to be watched over by him. Everyone's obsessed with the Angels and the lucky people they protect - everyone except for Madison Montgomery.
Maddy's the one girl in Angel City who doesn't breathlessly follow the Angels on TV and gossip blogs. When she meets Jackson, she doesn't recognize him. But Jackson is instantly captivated by her, and against all odds the two fall in love.
Maddy is swiftly caught up in Jackson's scene, a world of glamour, paparazzi - and murder. A serial killer is on the loose, leaving dead Angels' wings for the police to find on the Walk of Fame. Even the Guardians are powerless to protect themselves in the face of this threat & and this time it's up to Maddy to save Jackson.
I've heard very few things about this book. Which is weird considering how many Stacking the Shelves it's been in. It was hyped up in the sense that everybody bought it. Anyway, I was really excited to start this book. It sounded fun and great. And in the end it was! This book was great!
I really, really enjoyed this plot, it was fun and fast paced. There where a few times I got a little bored, but those where far and few between. And besides those very rare exceptions I didn't want to put this book down! This plot made your heart beat out of it's chest with fear for the characters, it made you stay up way later than you should. This plot was just so enjoyable. Which is saying something about the writing, because this book did have some cliches and was predictable in some parts. But like I said, the author wrote it in such a fun way that you didn't care about those things.
I also really liked the characters. I thought they where really relatable and realistic. I can see these characters being real people. And my favorite character was Maddy, basically because I think the same thing of most of pop culture as she does the whole angel thing. And that made her really relatable to me. I just really liked her character.
I think besides the plot, the best thing about this book was the world.I really loved reading about the world and it's history and just loved the spin the author put on angels. How only the people who can pay get the services of the angels. I love how she showed how any system can get corrupted, even ones run by angels.
The only bad thing I can really say is how, while I was reading it I didn't like how the author didn't just put the whole forbidden love & starcrossed lovers. She had to put in the whole murders. Now that I finished it and looking back, I'm really glad she did, because it gave the plot more substance. But while I was reading it I thought it was to much and got confused in some places. I guess what I'm trying to say is it wasn't executed all that well in some places.
Besides that, I thought this was a really great book! It had such enjoyable elements in it and I loved reading every bit of it! It was so enjoyable and great! This book got me out of the reading slump I was in since school let out. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a nice enjoyable read. It's the perfect book to lunge around on a summer day and read.
