Tragic Book Tour.

Today is my stop for the Tragic book tour!!! Today I will be doing another author interview with the wonderful J.A. Huss.

1.How did you come up with the idea for Tragic?

I was hunting for sexy photos on a stock art site to use as a cover for another book and I started wondering if the models were acting or if they were really “feeling” it. Because some of them look like they are having an awfully good time in these photos. So I came up with Tragic at like three in the morning and I put Losing Francesca aside (it was halfway done, but I was stuck on the plot) and wrote this book in a few weeks. Things happen for a reason because I totally changed the Francesca book when I went back to it after Tragic.

Now I need to know what book needs you to hunt for sexy pictures.

2. Since Tragic is such a different genre than the I Am Just Junco series, was your writing process different? Did you have to do something to get your mind set on contemporary before writing? And How did you make the transition of writing the action packed I Am Just Junco series to writing contemporary?

Yes, it was totally different. I could not stop writing thrillers. I was more than halfway done with the book when I decided to delete 25,000 words of Tragic because I had this whole plot going with the ex-boyfriend and – yeah. Running from your ex is not a fun romance. So I started all over again with only 8,000 words and rewrote it so the bad stuff stayed in the past and only the good stuff was in Rook’s present. I just had to keep focusing on the romance and not the outside influences. I think the trick to writing a good romance is to keep the characters physically together as much as possible, yet find ways to keep them apart emotionally at the same time. That creates good tension.

I agree running from your evil ex wouldn't make a fun romance, and good tip for writing romances. It defiantly worked in Tragic :D.

3. You have written a lot of swoon worthy guys, Ronin in Tragic for one. So, which guy was your favorite to write and is your overall favorite?

Ronin is fun, I liked writing him a lot because he’s a joker and he’s got bad boy potential, but at the same time he’s really a good guy. I have a new guy in the second book (called Manic) and his name is Ford. I’m starting to like Ford a little too much, so I’m not sure where that’s going just yet. But my favorite sexy guy of all is Lucan in the Junco series. I wish he had time for a girlfriend because I think he’d have a very interesting sex life!

Now I want need to read about Ford, he sounds amazing, and knowing you he will be hot.

4. What is your favorite genre of books to read?

I love to read science fiction the most because the authors in that genre are so creative when it comes to technology and world building. I like contemporary romances too and I read a lot of them, and not just for blogging. But my favorite genre right now is paranormal/SF/fantasy. Like the Shatter Me series and Daughter of Smoke and Bone. Those two are my favorite series right now.

I love Shatter Me, it's an amazing book!! Although I really need to start reading the Daughter of Smake and Bone series. Everybody loves it.

5. Since Tragic is a contemporary, what is your favorite contemporary book (Besides this one)?

I just finished Playing Patience by Tabatha Vargo and I loved it. It really got to me and I enjoyed her twist at the end. I also enjoyed Losing It by Cora Carmack, so I’m looking forward to reading Faking It this summer. She wrote some hilarious scenes in the first book that had me laughing so hard it was unbelievable.

Thanks for having my on your blog, Kimberly!  I’m glad you enjoyed Tragic!

Thanks for coming and thanks for the great interview :D, can't wait for Manic to release.

Synopsis:
Rook Walsh is TRAGIC

Because life so far – just sucks.  Some girls get parents.  Rook got the foster care system.  Some girls get Prince Charming.  Rook got an abusive frog.  Some girls get lucky…

Rook got a second chance.

And she took it.  Because when fate throws you a bone – you grab it with both hands and run.

Antoine Chaput knows the minute he spies Rook in his photography studio that she’s got The Look.  The dark and desperate look he must have to land the exclusive TRAGIC media contract.

Rook is paired up with top model, Ronin, and he’s everything her abusive ex-boyfriend wasn’t. Patient, gentle, happy, attentive, and sexy!  He knows exactly what to do to make Rook blush for Antoine’s portfolio.

Rook’s luck changes in an instant and suddenly she’s the darling of the modeling world.  It’s a dream job to go with a dream guy and all she has to do is look pretty and follow directions. But there’s always a price to pay – and Rook is about to get the bill.

TRAGIC is a new adult contemporary romance.

AUTHOR BIO
J. A. Huss likes to write new adult books that make you think and keep you guessing. Her favorite genre to read is space opera, but since practically no one reads those books, she writes new adult science fiction, paranormal romance, contemporary romance, urban fantasy, and books about Junco (who refuses to be saddled with a label).

She has an undergraduate degree in horses, (yes, really–Thank you, Colorado State University) and a master’s degree in forensic toxicology from the University of Florida. She used to have a job driving around Colorado doing pretty much nothing but shooting the breeze with farmers, but now she just writes, runs the New Adult Addiction and Clean Teen Reads Book Blogs, and runs an online science classroom for homeschoolers.
