Harry Potter Month: HP Book Editions

Harry Potter Month is a yearling event taking place in the month of July to coincide with Harry Potter's Birthday. It is hosted by Fatih @GeekyZooGirl and Micheline @ Lunar Rainbows. The plan is to fill the month with everything related to Harry Potter, like themed posts, discussions, re-reading the books and re-watching the movies. All of these things will allow you to earn House-Points towards the House Cup. For more info or to sign up, go here.
I am participating in Harry Potter month and so most of my posts this month will probably be centered around Harry Potter. You have been fairly warned.

For my first post, I will be showcasing my favorite book editions for the HP series. These are not only American or British editions but any edition I find absolutely gorgeous! Also, obviously I don't know every single edition of the HP series out there, these are just my favorites out of the few that I know.

1. The  American 15th Anniversary Edition Illustrated by Kazu Kibuishi
Just look at these beauties, not to mention the gorgeous box in the box-set

2. New Bloomsbury Children's Edition
These came out last September and are just stunning. I could look at them all day =D. I especially love the Chamber of Secrets cover because I think the phoenix in Basilisk's mouth is just epic!

And here's a spin view!!

3. German Edition
What I really like about the German editions is how you can tell which book is which by jus looking at the covers. You don't need to know German to know the cover with the time-turner is Prisoner of Azkaban, or that the cover with the glass eye is the Goblet of Fire.

4. Hogwarts Wooden Steamer Trunk- Patronus Edition
This isn't official a different edition, but this was just so beautiful I couldn't not put it on here.

This edition has not yet released yet and only the Philosopher's Stone cover as released, but it is beautiful! It releases on October 6th and one book will be published each year.

Here are some more pictures

Those are my top five favorite editions of this incredible series. What are some of yours because I know there are a lot more beautiful editions out there? Post in the comments or Tweet them at me @kim_notes

Happy Harry Potter reading!

Okay seriously love that Bloomsbury Children's edition covers! They are so cool looking. The art is vey distinct and pretty much epic. I am so stinking excited for the illustrated editions of Harry Potter. I could never convince myself to purchase a second set of books, though I wanted the 15th anniversary box set. But I'm pretty sure that was because I could sense the illustrated editions were just around the corner. I'll be damned if I don't own them all when they get released. Great post, Kim!

  3. Wow... I've never seen the German edition of the books before! It's stunning! I love the American 15th Anniversary Edition and New Bloomsbury Children's Edition but I'm kind of glad that I haven't bought either, because now I'm really looking forward to Bloomsbury Adult Hardback Edition: http://www.harrypotter.bloomsbury.com/uk/bookshop/complete-your-collection/adult-hardbacks/ . But seriously I wish I had all of them))

  4. The first two are on my list of favorite editions as well! The steamer trunk and illustrated editions I haven't seen yet. It's so bad that I want them all! I was just talking about how many different editions of HP I would buy just to have all those gorgeous books.

  5. Wow I want that steamer trunk..... The American Aniversary and the New Bloomsbury Children's are my favourites out of the ones you've shared, though I definitely agree about being able to recognise all the titles for the German editions.

I've been thinking of buying myself a new complete set, as mine are so totally mismatched. Plus, since I'm staying with my partner and his family, my copies have been left at home with my family - and his copies are even worse than mine in terms of mismatching/missing covers (!) etc. I have no idea which ones I really want though - the New Bloomsbury Children's Editions are looking most likely at the moment. I can't decide if I love or hate the Bloomsbury Adult Hardbacks Farida shared: love that they're hardbacks, love the detail, not convinced by the text over the top though, looks very busy. So many choices!

I really love the new covers that they came out with, especially the Scholastic ones. I'd love to own that box set.
I DIDN'T KNOW THEY WERE COMING OUT WITH ILLUSTRATED EDITIONS FOR ALL THE BOOK. THAT'S SO AWESOME!!!! I'm planning on asking for the illustrated Sorcerer's Stone as a Christmas present. I can't wait to get my hands on it. I'm already in love <3

  7. These are all SO beautiful! I pass by the 15th anniversary paperback set all the time at Target, and I want to buy it SO. MUCH. But I also love, love, love my hardcover editions that are on my shelf. You can never own too many editions of HP, lol!
