Q: Who is your favorite villain from a book?
I like villains that are in the gray. Meaning on some level you understand why they are doing whatever bad thing they are, but at the same time you know what they are doing is bad. They just don't know it. I like villains that way, because it adds more drama in the book and where, you, as the reader has to decide if you sympathize with the villain or not. So, throughout the whole book there is a battle within you and that brings you more into the story.
An example of what I am trying to say is Warner from Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi. I had mix emotions throughout that book, a part of me felt bad for him and started to like him, while the other part just hated him, the majority of me hated him. However, when I read his novella Destroy Me I just fell in love and I felt so bad for him and I understood him. What I am trying to say here is I like villains who you get mix emotions from, one second you feel sorry for them, the next you hate them.
That's my answer, Whats yours?
Happy reading
