SHHHH!
Don't spread the word!
Three-day weekend. Party at White Rock House on Henry Island.
You do NOT want to miss it.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

I won this book a few weeks back and was really excited to get to it, because I've heard a lot of good things about it. And after reading it for the Bout of Books read-a-thon I can say that they all are true. This book was such a great read!!! It was really fun to read and it was incredibly creepy.

The plot starts with our main character Meg and her best friend Minnie docking on Henry Island where a three day party is happening. And right when they set foot on the island you get this really sinister vibe from it. That vibe never goes away, which I really love, because that really helps it stay creepy through out the whole book, even when it isn't a creepy scene. And to warn you, this book is freaky. It scared the crap out of me so many times. I could barely sleep because of it! It also didn't help that I read most of this in the middle of the night and I was the only one awake.

The plot starts out right away and never stops. There are so many twists and turns and the mystery instantly grabs your attention. This is one of the few times in a mystery where I couldn't guess who the killer was. I kept going around and around with suspects and I kept thinking that I knew who it was and then they died. It's like "nope it wasn't that one then". This plot was just so good! And so fast-paced. I just devoured this book! And you will be shocked when you read who it was.

What was the best thing in this book was how creepy and captivating it was. This author weaved this sinister tone into this book with such talent that even when a scene wasn't suppose to be creepy terrifies you. And it's such a subtle creepy. At first you aren't scared at all, so you have this false sense of security. But than slowly but surely it starts to get creepier and creepier. And before you know it you are terrified to read the next page, but you are so caught up in the plot that you have to turn the page. You have to see who dies next, whose not where their suppose to be, will somebody pop out of the closet and try and kill them. You just have to know.

Why, you are asking, why are you giving it four Butterflies if you are singing it's praise. Well, I'm giving it four Butterflies even though I really enjoyed reading is because it didn't blow me away. It isn't the book that will pop in my head months from now. The story won't stay with me. I'm not saying it isn't good, it really is, you will enjoy reading it, but it's just wasn't the best book I ever read.

Overall I thought this was a really great story that I enjoyed reading very much and I would recommend it to everybody. If you want a scary book, read this one. If you want a quick read, read this one. If you want a mystery that you won't be able to solve, read this one. Just put this one on your TBR pail, because it's a book that won't disappoint you and even if it doesn't blow you away, like it didn't me, it will still leave you satisfied and glad you read it.

  1. Nice review. I felt similar, it had its scary moments and was face-paced but ultimately not a book that stays with you. Favorite moment was in the other house on the other side of the island. Creepy.

  2. Great review! I have read good things about this book. It's a shame that it didn't blow you away. I think that I may enjoy this book though, as it seems to be a fluent, read with plenty of action...

  3. Even though It didn't blow me away it was still a great read!!
I think you would like it too, because its the type of book that, unless you really don't like horror books, anybody will like.
And it is a really fast read, if you have a full day free you can finish this book within that day or even within hours, depending on how fast you can read.

  4. That was the creepiest scene I have ever read!! And it was even creepier since I was reading it in the middle of the night. I actually had to read a few more chapters after that, even though I was bone tired, because I was to freaked out.

  6. I envy you. I have such a problem reading like that. I try, I really do, because I just don't want to power through the book I want to absorb the words (like you said). And I just want the it to really sink in. But sometimes (most times) I get to caught up in the plot and I end up powering through it anyways.

  7. I am so glad I read Ten ! I was on
the edge of my seat the entire time. It's absolutely terrifying,
disturbing, psychologically freaky, and totally gripping. Even if you
don't normally read this genre (like me), I still highly recommend it.
    AWESOME BOOK!
